How to Get Brighter, Glowing Skin: What Really Works

Bright, glowing, even-toned skin is the look almost everyone wants, and it is the most-searched skincare topic in Pakistan. The good news: your skin already has its own natural brightness. Sun tan, dark spots, acne marks and dullness simply hide it. The right routine brings it back — visibly brighter, fresher and more radiant.

The first and most important thing

Every skin tone can glow. Your base skin colour is set by genetics, and no cream, serum, drip or tablet changes the tone you were born with — you do not need it to. That is not something to fix; it is simply your skin.

What good skincare can do is clear away what sits on top of your natural tone: sun tan, dark spots, post-acne marks, dullness and unevenness. Clear those and skin looks brighter, clearer and fresher than the tired, sun-loaded version in the mirror. That is what every real brightening result is: your own skin, at its best.

Why some people see a real glow-up

Three explanations, and only the last one is a problem:

  1. The tan came off. Months of sun darken exposed skin well below your natural tone. Fade the tan and protect with sunscreen, and the difference is real — compare your face with the inside of your upper arm to see your natural baseline.
  2. Marks and dullness faded. Even-toned skin looks brighter to the eye, even when the base shade is the same.
  3. The cream contained a steroid. This is the one to avoid, and it is common in Pakistan.

Safe brightening: skip mercury and hidden steroids

Many cheap "beauty creams" quietly contain strong corticosteroids (like clobetasol, a prescription-only steroid: NHS: clobetasol) and sometimes mercury. The quick change is followed by steroid acne, thin skin, visible veins and darker patches when you stop.

How to spot them: no full ingredient list, no company address, results promised in days, a burning or bleaching feel, and a price that seems too good. If a cream will not tell you what is inside it, skip it. Here is what actually works instead.

What actually works (with the evidence)

Ingredient What it genuinely does
Sunscreen (SPF 30+) The most powerful brightening step there is — it stops new tan and spots before they form, and protects the glow you build. Our SPF 60+ →
Vitamin C Antioxidant that interrupts excess pigment; fades the look of spots and evens tone over 2–6 months. Our serum →
Glutathione (topical) Antioxidant with a brightening reputation; helps soften dullness and unevenness with consistent use. Our serum →
Niacinamide Slows pigment transfer into skin cells; well-evidenced for uneven tone.
AHAs (glycolic acid) Gently exfoliate the dull surface layer; skin looks brighter within weeks. Our 7% toner →
Retinol Speeds cell turnover so marked, uneven surface skin is replaced sooner.

What about glutathione drips and tablets?

IV "glow drips" are heavily marketed in Pakistan's salons. The honest position: the evidence for lasting colour change is weak (Sonthalia et al., Dermatology Practical & Conceptual, 2018), results fade when injections stop, and unregulated IV therapy carries real medical risk. We do not sell them. A topical routine is the safer road to a lasting glow.

Your routine for your brightest skin

  1. Sunscreen every morning — all year. This alone changes more than any serum.
  2. Vitamin C in the morning under sunscreen — antioxidant care plus spot-fading.
  3. Gentle exfoliation 2–3 nights a week (glycolic acid) — lifts the dull layer.
  4. Moisturise daily — a healthy barrier reflects light for that glass-skin glow.
  5. Consistency: 8–12 weeks. Spots fade on your skin's timetable, so keep going.

Your natural brightness, cared for

The goal is healthy, even, luminous skin. The most beautiful skin in any room is the clearest, best-cared-for one. EL TESSA is premium Korean-formulated skincare — we are the manufacturer and global distributor, made in Korea, China and Pakistan to one EL TESSA standard, and every ingredient on the label is really in the product. Our Brightening & Glow collection is built for exactly this goal: start with the Morning Set (SPF + Vitamin C + Moisturiser) or the Vitamin C + Glutathione Glow Cream.

General skincare information, not medical advice. EL TESSA products are cosmetics, not medicines. For melasma or stubborn pigmentation, a dermatologist can offer prescription options no cosmetic can match.
